Personal Encounters with the Love of God: St. Francis de Sales and the Sacraments

$12.00

From the Author, Margaret Margeton:

This is a book about the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church.  It is also a book about St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622) who is, without a doubt, one of my favorite saints.  For those who have not yet had the pleasure of making his acquaintance, let me tell you a little about him and how I got to know him.  From there it will be an easy step to invite you to join me in considering the place of the sacraments in the life and writings of St. Francis de Sales and what his experience and understanding of the sacraments can say to us today.

Each chapter begins with a brief overview of the sacrament being considered and then explores how the sacrament was effective in the life and writings of St. Francis de Sales and/or another Salesian saint, such as St. Jane de Chantal.  I have also included some brief anecdotes about my own experiences of the sacraments, some going back to my childhood, others more recent.  At the end of each chapter, I offer a few questions for reflection and conclude with a boxed summary of key points about each sacrament, based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
