These selected sermons of St. Francis de Sales present a cross section of the sermons by the “innovator and teacher of eloquence” (Pius IX in the letter “Dives in Misericordia”).  His simple and effective style together with the charisma of his personality and the increasing reputation of his sanctity are the basis for the extraordinary effect of his sermons.  These sermons were selected and translated from the French by Rev. Franz Reisinger, OSFS.  They were translated from the German into English by the Rev. Eugene Kelly, OSFS for this edition.
