St. Francis de Sales, 5×7 Print
$5.00
Photographic reproduction of a portrait of St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622), painted in 1606 by Etienne Martellange, who at the time was his secretary, and who later became a Jesuit brother.
Later in the seventeenth century a Jesuit priest, Claude Francouis Menetrier of Chambery, gave the portrait to the Visitation sisters in Annecy with the assurance that it would remain in the archives. Apart from the years of the French Revolution, when it was preserved in hiding, it has remained there ever since.
Photo by Sister Marie Patricia Burns, Archivist of the Annecy Visitation. Available through Embraced by God (Desales Resource Center), Stella Niagara, NY.
