St. Francis de Sales used to say, “WE PRAY BEST BEFORE BEAUTY.” For the same reasons as Dorothy Day would come to know centuries later, he knew that BEAUTY heals our troubled souls, and brings us soothing hope in the face of our fears.

When we surround ourselves with beauty, immerse ourselves in it, or create it, we re-discover our own unique beauty. After all, each of us is made in the image and likeness of a God who loves variety.

All of the quotes in this 2021 calendar are from some of my favorite saints and modern-day prophets. I hope they bring you the same hope for the future that they bring to me. Pray with them and to them for patience, gentleness, and compassion in these troubled times.
