Lenten Sermons of St. Francis de Sales
Lenten Sermons of St. Francis de Sales translated by Nuns of the Visitation and edited by Father Lewis S. Fiorelli, O.S.F.S., 1987. Volume III in the series. Paperback, 5½ x8 ½”, 226 pages.
These Twelve 1622 Sermons come from the last Lent of the Saint’s life. This famous Doctor of the Church is one of the greatest masters of the spiritual life, — a wise, learned and gentle teacher for all. Although these printed sermons can not entirely capture his preaching charism in a written text, they are as close as we can get. The sermons are arranged in topics: Fasting, Temptation, Faith, Eternal Happiness, Election and Reprobation, Mutual Charity, Proper Conduct in Illness, God’s Spiritual Providence, Proper fear of death, Hearing the word of God, Humility and Obedience, and the Passion of our Lord and what it means.
